Star Trek

Saw the new Star Trek...not sure what it says about me when that is far and away the best film I've seen in a while. But enjoy its nerdaliciousness, I did. And unabashedly so. A lot of stuff in there for the old fans (especially with introducing the characters and their tag lines...Bones' is particularly funny every time he starts his "Dammit, Jim, I'm not a _____ schtick). But, there's also enough action, modern special effects and mild suspense to hook an entirely new, and younger generation of Trekkies. It was everything that Star Wars I-III were not.

What does a man have to do enlist with Starfleet?

Wow...the Japanese. I feel like I just did bad acid

There's no two ways about it...this will haunt you.

Random Tragedy: Jeff Bennett is Dead

Wilco founder, and former lead guitarist, Jeff Bennett died in his sleep at age 45...he was, to everyone's knowledge, struggling with busted knees and hips, but no other medical concerns of note. Just died in his sleep. At 45.

And, in other completely random news, Mike Tyson's four year old daughter was playing with some exercise equipment when she became entangled in the cords. Her seven year old brother found her. She's now in a Phoenix children's hospital, in critical condition and on life support.

The complete flukiness, and total inexplicability, of these two stories simply reaffirms what I've always believed....every day, every second is a commodity and is not to be wasted. Embrace life like a lover and ride it like a bull.

Bill Maher: Republican Men are "girls"

Here's a great interview covering an expansive breadth of topics: Limousine Liberals, Swine Flu, Ms. California, superstitious dumb Americans, Sean Hannity, the irrelevancy of the modern Republican Party, taking jokes too far, the dearth of a progressive Democratic Party, and how Republican women have more guts that Republican men....a tornadic 10 minutes.
