Going on Hiatus

As y'all know, February has been really sporadic. Dealing with surgeries, preparing to take over one of the attorney's work loads while he's on vacation, getting swamped with my own work...and the simple matter of a wedding.

 Like this, only without wings...

March 13, 2011. At the City of Refuge, before the sight of one of the most bloodthirsty gods on the Island (KU, war), the long-suffering Fetching Frau Schatten and I will be ending our years of living in sin, and joining the millions of other Americans raking in the tax benefits, shared student loan consolidation, and first-time homebuyer credits.

 Really, one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Last night, the first of dozens of people started arriving. The Meathead flies in on Friday. And, simply put, I'm going to be too slammed over the next two weeks to really keep up here.

I plan on doing a few posts...and I have a follow-up that I really want to get to later today, but posting will be akin to a man actually getting picked up at a bar by a hot chick: Sporadic, pleasantly-surprising, and drunken.

When we meet again, on a more semi-regular basis, I'll be a changed man. Until that day, however, let's take it out with some boobies?

One helluva' Week on Tap

Short work week, but I've been fighting a flu; I have to fly to Maui on Friday for a surgical consultation; and, to top it off at work, I've got three major projects due in three days in a row.

Odds that I'll be around this week? Almost nil.

But, maybe I can give you something to make your hearts (and groins) tingle with anticipation. From the incomparable PinUp Tumblr, I agree with him on this one "I have no idea who this is, but I wish she would sit beside me."

Stay weird until we meet again....

Real life is going to intrude today: Advice for law newbies

I can already tell real life is going to kick my ass...Been up for 5 hours, and -as I feared- the multitude of scattered tasks I have are taking a toll.

Look on the bright side at least; my new secretary is balls-out phenomenal. Remember, new attorneys, always be kind to both court staff and support staff. The former because, as I can tell you first hand, a law clerk is more than likely writing your order/findings & conclusions, as well as the fact that court clerks can fuck your life forever. The latter because your secretary is not only a part of your team, but is the gatekeeper against legal malpractice.

Don't be one of these....

 

And, for all persons, it simply is the right thing to do: They are human beings and nothing about your fucking degree makes you special or any more worthy as a person or legal/paralegal professional.

So, let's hear it for secretaries, shall we, in a Pinup Tribute to the folks that make our professional lives manageable.

 Can't complain about the hours, can you...

FWIW, if my secretary looked like this, I'm pretty sure the Fetching Frau Schatten would never let me work early or late ever again.

Happy Furlough Friday...

I'm peacing out.

My supervising partner's kid starts her Wnter break today, so he's gone. All of the support staff have today off for "Furlough Friday" (e.g., courthouse is closed, and I type really damned fast, in any event). And, already had my meeting client this morning. To top it all off, there is a massive storm howling out of the North; a fierce tropical Nor'easter that is rather intimidating.

All of this gray, cloudy muck and complete silence in my lil' part of the boutique has led to one conclusion: Fuck it. I'm goin' home early.

Besides, I always type faster in my boxers than in slacks.

I now share my new/renewed fixation: Pinups.

Sure, the sexy nerd girls do it for me; attraction is 50% physical and 50% between the ears.
